As Maui grapples with the effects of its worst wildfires in over a century, the School Nutrition Association stands in solidarity with the resilient people of Maui, Hawaii, including our SNA members. They are focused on rebuilding while still providing important services to students and the greater community.

Together, the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation (PSHF) and the Hawaii State Department of Education (DOE) are working tirelessly to support affected school communities, including addressing the vital aspect of school nutrition.

Right now, the most urgent need is monetary donations to aid ongoing response efforts, ensuring that students have access to nutritious meals during this challenging time. To facilitate this, all monetary donations received by PSHF through October 1, 2023, will be designated solely for Maui public schools affected by the wildfire disaster.

In times of crisis, it is crucial for communities like ours to come together and help, especially in ensuring that students receive the nourishment they require. The School Nutrition Association commends the dedication and resilience of Maui’s public-school communities, and we are steadfast in our commitment to aid their recovery, with a particular emphasis on maintaining and enhancing school nutrition programs.

Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by this devastating disaster, advancing our mission of ensuring students continue to have access to the nutritious meals they need to thrive.
