Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is extracted from the
aloe plant. Aloe is a succulent that grows outdoors, but can be
grown in pots indoors. The liquid can be extract by simply
breaking open a leaf and squeezing the juice onto a wound. You can
create a salve by crushing the leaves with the liquid still inside.
Aloe vera is used as an anti-inflammatory and soothing agent.
Externally, it eases the pain associated with sunburned skin and reduces
the signs of acne. Internally, it is used to cure constipation and
ease the pain of ulcers.
Aloe vera has 18 amino acids which give it its great healing ability.
Don't use aloe vera if you have appendicitis, colitis, Crohn's
disease, intestinal problems, or are menstruating. Aloe vera can
effect the way some prescription medicines work.
Side effects of aloe vera are not common and are not as serious as
most products, because it is a natural herbal remedy. The use of
aloe vera can lead to intestinal cramps, electrolyte loss, a fluid
imbalance or pink urine. These are usually in cases where the
person ingests too much aloe. |
